According to fashion experts, a bucket bag usually has only one strap, the bottom is generally round and it is larger from North to South than from East to West. These bags may have two straps; but most of them only have one. The bottom of the bag is soft, what this means is that it does not have any reinforcement inside so when you pick it up the bottom curves, making it round. When they say north to south it means that it is taller than it is wide. This is an easier definition to understand than the other, but women in themselves are complicated.

Most of them have one or two small, zippered pockets on the sides where you can put your keys, phones or any small of that nature. A large zipper closes the bag on top and sometimes it may have a flap to cover the zipper. This would be a general description of a bucket bag, but nothing is that simple when dealing with women’s fashion items. Many women choose to use these types of bags every day. Bucket bags can be found at a wide range of prices, starting from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. The price will depend on the material it is made of, the size of the bag, and of course who designed it. Designer bucket bags are usually more than a few hundred dollars. Copies of these originals are also sold and some of them are really good, but if you are not buying your designer bag at a reputable store, be very careful, you might be paying a lot for a copy.
 
Original designer bags have perfect quality, the stitches are exact and most of them come in a cloth bag keep them in, to protect them from dust and scratches. Often you can tell if it is a copy just by checking the stitches in the inside, where the leather meets the inner lining. Usually these joints are not perfect like in the original and the material used on the lining is not excellent quality either. If you are going to spend the money it’s best to be sure you are getting the real thing, so buy your bucket bag in a reputed store or a direct distributor.
